Oral Surgery / Extractions
Our goal at EastOver Vet is to save as many of your pet’s teeth as possible
However, at times, surgical extraction of teeth is the best option for your dog or cat. Our team will recommend surgical extraction of any tooth or teeth that cannot be brought back to normal health and function. Your pet’s quality of life is much better with healthy gums than one with painful and chronically infected teeth and gums.
There are many reasons surgical extractions are required, including:
- Periodontal disease that left the teeth unstable/loose due to the loss of bone and other supportive structures
- Fractured or abscessed tooth where an endodontic procedure or root canal is not appropriate or cost and follow-up care are concerns.
- Chronic gingivitis or feline stomatitis
- Feline resorptive lesions
Multimodal Pain Management
We use the safest, multimodal approach to minimize your pet’s pain before, during and after any surgical procedure. In most cases, your pet will feel better almost immediately after oral surgery and extraction(s) because your pet was in pain from the diseased tooth prior to surgery.
